That was again 1970s when the Pump Industrialists first declared the need for a corporation to solve the sector problems and state them together in exhibitions and conferences. However, it was the 90s that the importance of exporting is realized more while the production for other countries took more places with the required maturity of such an association of the sector and the necessity of this corporation 

Pump manufactures efforts through these purposes are yield in the 2nd Pump Congress between the 3th and 5th April of 1996 in Istanbul and with the common decision of many particular institutions, there has made further steps for a powerful corporation under an association.

The basic decisions are made in this congress for which the main goals are defined as bringing together under well-constructed association that has the ability to represent the Turkish Pump Industry and the business people who work for this sector, prepare common platforms to share the knowledge and ideas, run the activities to improve the education and quality level, create opportunities to make common projects, declare the common problems in particular platforms and work for the solutions, introduce the sector, develop the ability to compete and to make the necessary actions to have the enough power to discuss in the international organizations

Further, 12 founding members have taken steps to establish the “Pump Manufacturers' Association” with the acronym POMSAD to represent the sector, and after the preparations for the Charter have been completed, the required instruments and documents specified by the Law on Associations have been arranged and the association has been officially established subsequent to the application made to the concerned authority on 2 September 1996.

In 20th July, 2005, taking the decision of transforming itself into the Turkish Pump and Valve Manufacturers’ Association, POMSAD made an important step toward its mission some part of which is ordered as follows from 1996 to 2014:

• 6th of March 1997: The association became active officially and was authorized to enroll members upon the examinations by the public authorities
• 11th of May 2000: Change in regulations for the registration of competent manufacturer members
• 8th of June 2001: Getting the full membership of EuroPump (European Pump Manufacturers’ Association) and membership of Execution Council
• 7th of February 2003: Getting the right to use “Turkish” statement in its name, transforming into “Turkish Pump Manufacturers’ Association” with the decision of Council of Minister.
• 16th of June 2003: Getting the full membership of CEIR (The European Committee for the Valve Industry)
• 24th of May 2005: CEIR Membership of the Board of Directors
• 20th of July 2005: The decision is taken to transform the name of the association to “Turkish Pump and Valve Manufacturers’ Association”
• 1th of September 2005: The approval of the new name and status of the association by relevant authorities
• 20 April 2007 - Moving of Association's Main Office to Ankara
• 28th of April 2011 – CEIR Presidency
• 8th of June 2013 – EUROPUMP Vice Presidency
• 22nd of November 2014 – MAKFED Founding Presidency
• 9th of May 2015 – EUROPUMP Presidency
• 9th of June 2017 - CEIR Board Membership 
• 14th of April 2018 - Machinery Exporters' Association Presidency  
• 16th of April 2018 - Moving of Association's Main Office 
• 18th of June 2019 - CEIR Vice Presidency 

After the last transformation, POMSAD as a very recent and active association became a representative not only for the centrifuge and displacement pumps and component manufacturers but also for the domestic and industrial valve and component manufacturers; making the required changes in the regulations and management construction earlier than most of the other national member associations of EuroPump and CEIR, it became a very powerful establishment. Today, within the last decade, POMSAD has many other important organizations apart from having representatives among most of all the particular unities, associations, committees and assemblies of different platforms such as:

• Organizing CEIR-Europump Yearly Common Meetings (Xanadu Hotel Belek, between the 20th and 28th of May, 2006)
• Organizing the 6th Pump Valve Congress (Ankara , DSİ Congress Hall , between the 16th and 18th of October, 2008)
• Organising CEIR Plenary Assemblies and Yearly Meetings (İstanbul, Grand Hyatt Hotel, 26-28 April 2011)
